Bursting Bubbles

The Bubble is an area where air acts as an opaque between reality and a tranquil dreamworld caught somewhere between Pleasantville and the thinly veiled fabric of the Twilight Zone. The Bubble is a shrinking vortex of yesteryear. Out of the reach of much of America, though sparsely populated, the Bubble boast of the large manicured lawns, winding tree-lined streets, and lots of economic and political clout.

As the diffusion of diversity browns the once all-white inner suburban demography, Bubble communities within the exurbs reflect a different reality. This place is where the political, sociological, and psychological Southern strategy of the 1970s intersects with the 21st century Colorblind excuses for not dealing with the reality of systemic racism.

While in the Bubble, they understand that peaceful anti-racism protests are myths. The Bubble’s conjured truth is that Anarchists, Marxists, and Antifa are burning and looting neighborhoods with loathsome sights on penetrating these placid Bubble communities. Many of these communities represent the frontlines of the current culture wars and, more specifically, the tribal frontlines that divide the old homogeneous America and emerging multi-ethnic America. Along those battle lines exists the contentions of class, race, politics, different worldviews of religion, and freedom.

A deep-seat racial indifference flows along the trenches and resurrects white supremacy that bubbles to the surface. Within these battle lines, scores of these communities’ well-disguised vileness are exposed by highly charged school board meetings, one after the other i.e., Southlake, Texas. Increasing levels of white fear are on full display as the angry and frightened voices scream in agitation for a way to get out from under the weight of truth that schools are attempting to expose to their so called fragile children.

“Quick, find an enemy, a villain, a boogeyman, a foil.” Make it dirty, make it dark, just like their skin, call it harmful, shameful, and a lie. Call it Critical Race Theory (CRT) This way we can shut it down” speaks the mentality of the Bubble.

“About 26 states now have taken steps to curb various aspects of how teachers discuss with students America’s racist past and how districts fight systemic racism. Many take effect this fall, and some of them contain penalties for teachers and administrators, including the loss of their license or fines.”

But as some of the fiercest critics of race-related teaching acknowledge, the most important level of governance over what is taught, which materials are selected, and what training is provided is at the school district level.” Education Week: Local School Boards Are Banning Critical Race Theory. Here’s How That Looks in 7 Districts By Stephen Sawchuk — August 25, 2021

Hitherto, the battle lines form as Bubble communities become fortified strongholds in this intellectual civil war against truth and reckoning. Ultimately, it is a losing proposition that will fail because the Bubble is on the wrong side of history, demographics, and truth. A classic line from the movie entitled A Few Good Men says, “You can’t handle the truth!” and

Scripture reminds us that “you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” This struggle is going to be a slog unto the end. Nationwide, bubbles are bursting in the incipience of a multiethnic American. This nation will never change until it faces and exorcised its demons from the past.

“No, no, we are not satisfied and will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
