The Abomination of Desolation

“The abomination of desolation is a prophetic event found in the book of Daniel (Daniel 12:11) and referred to by Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:15). Though it has historical fulfillments, there is also a future fulfillment when daily sacrifices will be offered in Jerusalem and then cut off and replaced by some sort of blasphemous display. This prophecy is significant because it represents an important time marker signaling the nearness of the return of Jesus Christ.” What Is the Abomination of Desolation? by Tom Clark and Erik Jones

The events mentioned above describe what some Christian believers ascribe to as an eschatological (End Times) sign. A new dispensation, i.e., the end of a period and the beginning of a new one, is imminent.
Our country has just suffered a similar intrusion into the government’s sacred hall in a secular sense. The U.S. Capitol Building was breached by a violent band of white supremacists and far right-wing marauders. The groans of this day became crystallized in the words of an officer.

I got called a nigger 15 times today,” the veteran officer shouted in the Rotunda to no one in particular.” “I cried for about 15 minutes and I just let it out.”  BuzzFeed Emmanuel Felton News Reporter

To further identify this disgraceful day, a hoard of so-called regular citizens were in attendance. The vast majority were white. Many of those were business owners, government officials, fire and police, and a few soccer moms. Beyond their political or cultural motivations, the one apparent thru line was the White Privilege, i.e., Privilege (“an invisible package of unearned assets.”) they embraced.

It is an insult to every black person to continually recite the redundant phrase, “what if they were black.” Insulting as well, referencing that being Latinx, indigenous, or any person of color would also garner a different result. It is Privilege that needs to be the focus. Magistrates and Judges released some of the rioters until their trials, “Oh, what a privilege.” Many were charged with only minor crimes though they entered a federal building without authorization. “Oh, what a privilege.” Privilege is the worst abomination that left the U.S. Capitol desolate. Privilege has always left this country in wanting.

The Culture of white Privilege overwhelms all other factors, and in the eyes of some, even democracy itself. Though some carried firearms, for whatever hidden reason, the violent mob was allowed to breach this citadel of democracy with merely baseball bats, flags, and hockey sticks and lived to tell about it. Privilege boasts of an Idolatry of a social construct because there is no such thing as biological race. The construct is as old as the first murder when Cain killed Abel. In the story, God confronts Cain about his brother Abel’s whereabouts. He replied, asking, “am I my brother’s keeper?”

The sentiment of Privilege is that “it’s only about me and those that are like me, opposed to “Imago Dei” all are created in the image of God. “In America, the dominant Culture sets the rules for the game. Like Cain, “I can do what I want as long as it benefits me and my way of life.”

Another factor that accelerates the aggression of Privilege is the fear of demographic change. Like honey bees in late summer, they turn aggressive because their time is short. In this nation, within the next 25 years, whites will no longer be the majority.

There are many factors placing whiteness in conflict with the balance of nature. The natural occurrence in the rest of the world is the dominance of more Melanin vs. less Melanin. Internationally a vast majority of the world are people of color and becoming more so annually. With international travel and the increase of technology, better health outcomes, and longer lifespans globally, this trend will only continue. America’s demographics are moving toward reflecting the rest of the world.

The sun is setting on white Privilege. In the beautiful Mosaic call America, any attempt to whitewash it once again with Privilege is the civic equivalent to an abomination of desolation
