The Fierce Urgency of Now Part 2: What Dose it All really Mean Today

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”              1 Corinthians 13:4-7

According to scripture  God is Love

Upon the arrival of 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, we celebrate those brave souls of the civil rights movement and their incredible leader the Dr. Martin Luther King  Junior. On that August day in 1963, those marchers  could never have imagined in their wildest dreams that an African American could be Living in the White House as the 44th President of the United States which represented an important initial step in the quest toward Dr Kings Dream.

22680608_BG1Sadly enough, there are those today locked in racial suspended animation, who will never except that an African American could ever legitimately be the 44th President, in their wildest dreams.  We are confronted with a paradox. This leaves us caught betwixt the pain of the past racial oppression and the haste by some to return back to the so called good old days for fear of the changing demographic landscape. Rolling back Civil Rights, Voting Rights, gerrymandering congressional districts etc, are their ways to stem the tide of our multi ethnic future.

There is a “Fierce Urgency of Now alright. In 2013 The fierce urgency of partisan bickering, race coding or baiting and finger pointing dims the light of progress that America has made. The Fierce Urgency of Now becomes the Anthem of all sides of the ethnic/cultural divide. We are in a real life game of Capture the Flag (American flag) at break neck speed; or so it may seem to those locked into the throws of ethnocentrically defining America to their advantage.

Conversely, Love has everything to do with who we are. It is essential when we talk about Building what-is-lovethe Bridge Together.” In a meeting with some of individuals involved in  Accord1, the Idea of defining Love in the way of a 21st century acronym was discussed and a brainstorming session ensued. During this session it became clear that when defined as an action of a singular encounter, Love was easier to understand and carry out.  Seen this way, Love is a decision to enact empathy, expressed unselfishly at a singular encounter.

  • Limit Objections to Value Everyone
  • Limit Objections Value Essence
  • Learn Objectives Value Existence
  • Leverage Opportunities to Value Everyone

Our character is established by the sum total of the decisions.  That being said, a pattern of these decisions altogether result in a lifestyle which can  further the cause of “Building the Bridge Together“, by moving away from broader philosophies/ideologies that we use to divide and segregate one another. This will give space for all to be unique expressions of humanity, Even in the effort to grow spiritually, we still occasionally find our humanity; identity, esteem and direction etc, are communicated through the cultural dynamics that we live our lives through.  Synergy says “it’s more than just you and me, it’s we”
